VDARE's Derbyshire/Child Porn Problem

Derbyshire is still there.

Several days ago, the execrable John Derbyshire commented on child pornography, questioning why it is illegal, essentially supporting legalization of child porn.  Even worse, he had the temerity to compare enjoyment of such filth with political thought crimes, both being unjust victims of “anarcho-tyranny.”  You can read it for yourself, his original post is linked to in the EGI Notes post (*).

Being hopelessly naïve, I thought that maybe this time, finally – after, you know, Derbyshire’s denouncing White nationalism and praising miscegenation and calling Amren supporters “latrine flies” and supporting “Jayman” and GNXP inter-racial porndog “Razib” – that (the HBD faction of) Der Movement would have had enough of this disgusting perverted creature.  But, no.  Nothing. Well, in general, Der Movement as a whole is not responsible for the anti-WN Derbyshire (despite letting him speak at conferences he previously denounced), although they still should speak up.

But what about VDARE itself, the site that hosts Derbyshire, gives him a forum, and where Derbyshire’s pro-child porn screed first appeared?  Did they take action?  Did they, at minimum, remove Derbyshire’s post, denounce his comments, and distance themselves from that support for the legalization of child porn?  No, they did not.  They certainly didn’t do the real right thing, and get rid of Derbyshire.  No, he’s still there, with another moronic “Radio Derb” podcast.  VDARE continues to embrace and support the filth Derbyshire, despite his own words (*) clearly supporting the decriminalization of (at minimum) possession of this form of child abuse.

My opinion is this:

1, Any person who, like Derbyshire, makes excuses for child porn and supports its decriminalization is, in my view, enabling it and thus promoting it.

2. Any entity that hosts, supports, promotes a person like Derbyshire is complicit in the same support.

3. Any person who makes contributions to that entity, and/or who continues to write for it without even a hint of protest, is also complicit.

*Note: For those too lazy to follow the links, here are Derbyshire's actual words, emphasis added:

...there is an anarcho-tyranny angle here that is sufficiently deplorable in itself. Why should it be a crime to have child porn on your computer?  (Note that the item on the charge sheet about Bukovsky “making” child-porn images is bogus.  As Claire Berlinski explains, under U.K. law just downloading images counts as “making” them.)
Enjoying child porn is weird and creepy to be sure.  I cleave, however, to the old principle that you can’t go to jail for what you’re thinking.  In the Western world of today, as the waters of totalitarian conformity rise all around us, that point of view seems positively quaint.
